Kott Gunning’s 90th Anniversary Celebrations

In 2009 Kott Gunning celebrated its 90th year. To mark the occasion, Kott Gunning partners and staff were joined by over 300 guests at a cocktail function at the Government House Ballroom on the 19th of November.

Although the wonderful ballroom hardly needed enhancement, the interest of guests was stimulated by a slideshow, which had been developed with the invaluable assistance of Jane Davis from the University of WA, as well as some great jazz from the Adam James Trio. The slides displayed 90 years of history involving Kott Gunning, St Georges Terrace and of the changing legal and political landscape over that period. A book containing a selection of those images was also produced, and given as a keepsake to staff and guests.

Speeches were made by Tom Darbyshire, our managing partner, Malcolm McCusker QC, a former partner, of Kott Gunning and our senior partner Laurie James, who was presented with a token of the firm’s appreciation for his 45 years of service.

In addition to guests well known in legal, political and business circles we were particularly pleased to be joined by Dixie Gunning, wife of the late Judge Ivan Gunning and her daughter Lisa, along with a number of former partners of Kott Gunning.

The evening was greatly enjoyed by the KG team as it provided a rare opportunity to meet with a group of friends, acquaintances and colleagues not often brought together.
