Ernie Samec

Ernie has a combination of professional skills in a range of disciplines all related to the development of land. Ernie has gained 5 years of experience while working as an Architect on major construction projects in Sydney, Adelaide and Perth.

Ernie has a sound knowledge of local government planning and practice through 2 years of employment in the Planning Department of the City of Perth and 2 years with the City of Fremantle where Ernie was responsible for the Council's development control functions. Ernie has represented Council in Liquor Licensing hearings, public meetings and has appeared before the Town Planning Appeals Tribunal as an expert witness.

He has a further 8 years of experience as a Senior Planning Officer with the Ministry for Planning where Ernie worked in a diverse range of areas, including urban design and townscape, the environmental planning branch, statutory planning and the major urban projects branch. Ernie has represented the Ministry on the Port Kennedy Management Board, the Caravan Parks and Legislative Review Committee, the Strata Title Legislative Review Committee, and the Residential Regulations Review Program.

Ernie's knowledge of local government matters and planning practice has been broadened by two years as an elected member of the City of South Perth.

Since joining Kott Gunning, Ernie has provided advice to local government and private sector clients on matters concerning the interpretation of Town Planning Scheme provisions, planning control areas, validity of planning conditions, strata title and survey strata development. Ernie has represented clients before the Rights in Water Appeals Committee and the Town Planning Appeals Tribunal.
