Surviving the Silly Season

The festive season is a potential hot bed for risky behaviours and it is important that you are able to safeguard your business, your clients and yourselves to minimise risk and personal liability. This interactive seminar will demonstrate common high risk scenarios involving drugs, alcohol, social media, bullying and harassment in the workplace and give you the tools and strategies to avoid the matter snowballing.

Did you know that:-

  • In August this year, a pub across the road from an employer’s office was found to be a “workplace” under federal discrimination legislation;
  • In July this year, the Courts set a precedent for significantly increasing damages for “pain and suffering and loss of enjoyment of life” arising from sexual harassment – in this case to $100,000;
  • Directors, managers and leaders are personally liable if they fail to maintain a healthy and safe workplace for their employees and contractors beyond the usual hours of 9-5.

The event will be chaired by partner Tim Lethbridge, and feature contributions by Kott Gunning’s OSH team and experienced barrister Maria Saraceni, to bring you an engaging seminar addressing all-too common safety issues.

Attendees will receive a handout including practical tips and takeaways for immediate implementation upon return to the office.
