Local Governments, as part of their day to day functions, enter in contractual relationships in a wide variety of circumstances. As a consequence of COVID-19 local governments have faced massive disruption to contracts that they are parties to. It may mean that the local government or the contractor are currently unable to perform their obligations under the contract.

COVID-19 – WA’s Proposed Residential Tenancies (COVID-19 Response) Bill 2020 (15 April 2020)

The WA Government will seek to introduce into Parliament this week legislation to minimise the financial impacts of the COVID-19 on tenants and landlords of residential tenancies. The proposed legislation will apply to landlords and tenants in public and private housing and park homes, as well as boarders and lodgers.

COVID-19 – Restrictions on Local Governments Relaxed (15 April 2020)

In response to the COVID19 Pandemic, the WA Government has amended the Local Government Act 1995 allowing for a relaxation of rules surrounding borrowing, enabling suspension of parts of the Act and some local laws and increasing the threshold below which tendering is required.
