Kott Gunning Promotes Four Young Lawyers

We are delighted to announce four lawyers have been made Associates effective from 1 February 2016, representing the next generation of leadership and capability at the firm.

Family Law practitioner Alison Brooks commenced with Kott Gunning in March 2009, with a background including commercial litigation, property and criminal law. She now practises exclusively in Family Law. Her dual degrees in psychology and law provide her with a unique perspective to the issues faced by her clients, and her common sense approach to family law provides a realistic understanding of her clients’ situation, as well as the legal system and its processes.

The Insurance team has been boosted by the promotion of two lawyers, Henrik Eklund and Ken Grunder.

Ken joined the firm in November 2013, practising predominantly in insurance and risk for large international and national insurers, national and local self-insurers and employers in a variety of industries. He is acting in a range of insurance related matters in the state compensation, liability and professional indemnity areas. His current focus is on claims involving physical and psychiatric injury as well as property recovery claims, which are being litigated at WorkCover and in the District Court.  Away from the office Ken enjoys competing in triathlons and open water swimming events.

Henrik started with Kott Gunning in June 2014, and his practice focuses on defendant workers’ compensation law for large international and national insurers, large national and local self-insurers and employers in a variety of industries.  He regularly appears in Workcover WA and the District Court of Western Australia, and has also appeared in the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the Magistrates Court of Western Australia.

Ann Spencer has been made an Associate in Commercial Dispute Resolution.  Since joining the firm in August 2014, Ann has practised in a broad range of commercial litigation matters including compliance, property leasing disputes and contested estates, and is the author of numerous articles on these and other topics.  Ann is a keen sportswoman and will tell her story in the next issue of the magazine Arthritis Today.

Kott Gunning’s Managing Partner, Tom Darbyshire, said “our new Associates are great contributors to the firm and great people.  We are very proud to be able to recognise them in this way”.
