Kott Gunning is delighted to announce the promotion of senior associate Anne Wood to partner in our Local Government practice effective from 1 January 2016.
Anne’s focus as a partner, together with the Local Government team, will be further developing the Local Government practice as the “firm of choice” for effective, efficient and realistic local government legal advice.
Anne joined Kott Gunning as an articled clerk in 2006. Prior to pursuing a career in the law, Anne worked for a number of years as an advisor to various State Government Ministers including three Ministers for Local Government and Regional Development, one Minister for Planning and Infrastructure and one Minister for Housing and Works. Her experience includes working within State Government ministerial offices in the instructing, drafting and reviewing processes for legislation. This knowledge is invaluable to her work in statutory interpretation and compliance.
A graduate of Kwinana Senior High School, Anne has a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing and Management) and a Bachelor of Laws from Murdoch. She also has a Masters of Industrial Relations from the University of Western Australia.
She is the recently elected President of the Women’s Lawyers Association of Western Australia and is a member of the Australian Local Government Women’s Association of Western Australia. She is also the Vice Chairperson of the Rockingham based, South Coastal Women’s Health Services.
Our Local Government clients have come to rely on Anne for friendly, practical, insightful advice and representation on everything “local government” from governance to prosecutions to Supreme Court appeals.
