Western Australia’s swimming community is set to benefit following the announcement Swimming WA will continue its partnership with Perth law firm Kott Gunning Lawyers.
Kott Gunning Lawyers has confirmed it will continue to support Swimming WA as a Silver level sponsor and the organisation’s exclusive legal partner.
Swimming WA is the peak body for swimming in Western Australia, and one of the state’s leading sporting organisations. The not-for-profit organisation represents 85 swimming clubs and more than 6,700 registered swimmers across the state.
Swimming WA Chief Executive Officer Darren Beazley thanked Kott Gunning for its continued and dedicated support. “Our aim is to have a small group of sponsors with whom we have a genuine relationship – and Kott Gunning very much falls into that category,” Mr Beazley said.
“Kott Gunning is proactively getting behind Swimming WA – giving the association the opportunity to ensure correct governance so it can focus on developing the next generation of swimmers.”
Kott Gunning’s Managing Partner, Tom Darbyshire, said “as a firm we are impressed by what Swimming WA has achieved in the first year of our sponsorship. They have mapped a clear direction for the next four years to achieve their vision for ‘swimming to be an essential part of the Western Australian way of life’, recruited a dynamic team to support the vision, and improved community engagement”.
Swimming WA’s events and development programmes encompass all ages and abilities of swimming, from learn to swim through to carnivals in remote and rural areas and its popular Open Water Swimming (OWS) Series.
The first OWS Series event for the 2015/16 season was opened by the Hon Colin Barnett MLA Premier of Western Australia on 31 October at Cottesloe. Participation in the Cottesloe event grew by more than 13 per cent this year, with a record number of 626 swimmers aged between 11 and 70 taking part.
Kott Gunning Lawyers has been a part of the Western Australian community for more than 95 years and is excited to be a part of the revival of swimming as more Western Australians of all ages discover the opportunity to swim for health, fun and with friends.
